Setting Up LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a powerful tool, even if it is not the most fun one. It’s the one platform dedicated to networking, and in a business as personal as beauty, having a LinkedIn profile is a must. After all, you want to be found by potential clients in ALL the ways. How exactly do you set up your profile and what do you post on it?
Here are our tips for making the most of LinkedIn.
Personalize
This is probably our advice for everything beauty business-related, but always personalize. Anyone can tell when you’re sending a form message. Whether you’re sending an invitation request or joining a group, take the minute to personalize your messages and actually answer those questions.
You don’t have to know the person already, but you do have to introduce yourself and let them know a little bit about you.
Post sparingly
We get it--the whole point of being on a platform is to make yourself known. You want to get on people’s radars, but over-posting is a trap you don’t want to fall into. As a company, we post biweekly. Find the frequency that works for you / your brand, and make sure your posts are relevant to your network.
Stay up-to-date
As a solopreneur, educator and trainer, there are so many people who could be viewing your profile. Make sure it’s the most accurate and up-to-date representation of you and captures your skills and experiences. In the beauty industry, photographers, clients, distributors, trainers, and fellow artists all overlap in their networks. Make sure they are seeing the most updated you.
Polish
Even if you aren’t currently looking for new opportunities, still polish up your profile regularly. Link content from your website or blog to grow an audience on LinkedIn. Share your best views and tips on the industry to establish yourself as a professional. It might be a slow game but trust us, making LinkedIn part of your social media game will pay off.
